Don't Wait Up: 10 ideas for a Mom's night out

Even though we are happy to play with Barbies and chase Captain Underpants around the living room, moms do need time for ourselves. The following ideas are great ways to break free and have a little fun without breaking your family budget.
  1. Go to the Spa. Schedule a package deal for your group at a local spa for a massage, facial and manicure or any combination of these things. All Moms can use a little pampering and this is a great gift to give yourself. A less expensive option would be to buy manicure kits, nail polishes, etc. and set up a relaxing spa atmosphere in someone's home where you give each other manicures. This would be the option to fit our budget perfectly!
  2. Have a Bunco night. Bunco is a dice game that is all the rage for groups of 12 or more people (4 people per table/group). Of course, food and drink are a must at Bunko parties so have everyone bring a little something to share.
  3. Have a game night. You can play group party games such as Cranium, Catch-phrase, Pictionary, Outburst or Taboo. There are so many great games out there so find some that appeal to the tastes of your group and don't be afraid to try something new.
  4. Have a dessert night. Each mom brings her favorite dessert to share. What woman doesn't have a sweet tooth?
  5. Outdoor activities like biking, canoeing, walking in the park, etc. Moms often don't have time to exercise and having buddies to "workout" with is a great way to get motivated.
  6. Have a scrapbooking party. Have all the other mothers bring a certain material and pictures for a theme that you choose and everyone can create and relax together.
  7. Have a recipe swap. Have everyone cook a casserole or dessert and bring copies of the recipes. As you taste each, you can grab a recipe to make your meal prep easier.
  8. Go on an overnight to the beach or lake. One night would probably be enough time away. You can take a few girlfriends and do several of the above activities.
  9. Take homemade Glamour Shots. Dress up and do each other's makeup. Choose one of your friends that love to take photos and have him or her shoot the girls together and individually. I noticed that most of the time the pictures in my albums have Dad and daughter but I have more than likely refused to be photographed. Believe it or not we love to look beautiful too!
  10. Take a fun continuing education class together. The local colleges or YMCA sometimes offer classes such as photography and stained glass. Create something you are proud of and enjoy time with friends.

No matter what you choose to do, have fun and DON'T continuously call home. Trust your hubby to take care of things so you can relax and get in touch with your fun and creative side.
