Educational Videos
There are many educational videos available out there to assist in preparation for becoming new parents. Go to your local library or inquire about them at the hospital of your choice. Bring the videos of interest home to view together with your partner. Discuss the videos afterwards and write down any questions that you still may have. You may then bring these questions with you to your next doctor's visit. The following is a list of videos that are available for viewing at the hospital near me:

The Happiest Baby on the Block - Learn how to elicit the "calming reflex" (the automatic off switch for any baby's crying). Dr. Karp shows step-by-step how babies can be helped to relax and sleep better. (38 minutes)

About Car Seats:  Don't Risk Your Child's Life - Reviews the four stages of protection. Includes important safety features, various car seat models, and correct strap adjustment. (21 minutes)

Bath Demonstration - Learn how to bathe your baby, use a thermometer, choose and use baby care products wisely. (20 minutes)

Baby Massage and Exercise-Demonstration of techniques to enhance development and calm baby through loving touch. (28 minutes)

Sex, Love, and Babies: How Babies Change Your Marriage - Couples discuss the challenges they are facing and actions they are taking to improve their relationships. (34 minutes)

The First Years Last Forever - Learn how to create a healthy parent-child relationship with your baby, which, in turn, will promote healthy brain development. (29 minutes)

Obstetric Self-Medication Instructions - Learn about your self-medications including actions, reactions, and home storage. Reviews how to fill out your medication sheet. (7 minutes)

Follow Me Mum - How to position your baby for breastfeeding and latch baby on so that your nipples don't get damaged. Watch this if you are having trouble with latch or if your nipples are getting sore. (20 minutes)

Why to Breastfeed - All the reasons why breastfeeding benefits mom, dad, and baby. Very motivating! Watch this if you are still undecided about breastfeeding. (20 minutes)

How to Breastfeed - Reinforces basic information on breastfeeding, including how Dad can help. Good to watch if this is your first time breastfeeding, especially if you did not take a breastfeeding class, or as a review if you breastfed before. (30 minutes)

Men and Breastfeeding - Short tape on how dads can help with breastfeeding. (5 minutes)

Burping the Baby - Shows baby's signs of needing to be burped and the four techniques of burping. A very useful film for moms and dads, whether breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. (18 minutes)

Formula Feeding - Things to be aware of when bottle feeding. Good information for bottle-feeding parents. (19 minutes)
