Interview Other Parents

By Angela Sawinski, edHelperBaby

Homework Activity
Come up with a list of questions that you have about becoming new parents or parenting in general. Then ask these questions to someone who already is a parent.  It may be helpful to ask the same questions to more than one person to see if you get different responses. Not all people will have the same view on parenting, and it may be helpful to get a variety of perspectives. The following is a list of possible questions that you may have:
  • How do I know if the baby is eating enough?
  • How can I soothe a crying baby?
  • How often should I change the baby's diaper?
  • How do I know if the baby is not feeling well?
  • Do you have any tricks to ease sleep deprivation?
  • How can I get my partner more involved with the baby if I am nursing?
  • How long will it be before my body is feeling back to normal?
  • Will my partner and I get alone time again?
  • Do you try to schedule weekly or biweekly date nights?
  • How do I find a babysitter that I can trust?
  • Do you feel guilty leaving your child with a sitter?

This is just a list of possible questions that you may have about becoming new parents. Some of these may apply to you and your situation and some of them may not. It is important for you to come up with a list that is meaningful and will be most beneficial to you.
