Partner Discussion

By Angela Sawinski, edHelperBaby

Homework activity
Have a discussion with your significant other about the changes that the two of you are about to face. Go into this discussion with an open mind and be willing to compromise. It is highly unlikely that you will agree on everything. Take notes as you talk in case you need to refer back to them. Talk about your beliefs, traditions, and values. Discuss your parenting rules and each of your parenting roles. Divide up household chores equally between the two of you. One person should not have to take on the bulk of the tasks. You should prioritize what is most important and realize that you may not be able to do everything the same as you have been because having a baby changes everything! Doing this will help you ease into the changes of parenthood and be prepared ahead of time. It can prevent some major disagreements once the baby has arrived.
