Party Time: 5 Great Party Themes

By Mary Sharman, edHelperBaby

Activity
Being pregnant is a fun time and the best way to enjoy it is with friends and family. If someone wants to plan a shower for you give them some good ideas to get the party started right!

       Deep Freeze

If you already have children and you do not need the essentials, this shower would suit you just right. Have the guests bring a cooked, freezable meal for your freezer for the family to eat after baby comes. You may want to have the shower the week before or the week of the due date. The only flaw in that is that mom may be at the hospital but party on and she will be more than excited when she comes home to a freezer full of good food.

       Diaper Bonanza

Put together a basket with a nice bottle of wine, crackers, wine glasses, wine opener, block of cheese, summer sausage, etc. to display at the shower. In the invitations tell the guests that there will be a raffle for a gift that anyone would love. The price for each entry is one small pack of diapers or wipes. Guests can enter as many times as they like. Then stand back and watch the diapers pile up. Chances are your guest of honor will not have to buy diapers for a while!

       Star of the Show

Make a cake like a star on the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard. Have it say "A Star is Born" or maybe even the baby's name. Have the guests walk a red carpet and video tape them doing so. When they reach the end have them give special messages to the mom-to-be. The invites could be in the shape of an Oscar or Emmy announcing the celebration of a dramatic event that is about to take place. It could also be in the form of a movie review.

       Pampering Mom

This is a shower strictly for Mom! Have fancy decorations or give your home a spa feel.  Play soothing music and have someone come in to give everyone a massage or a pedicure. Instead of baby gifts, give things to pamper Mommy, like comfy lounge clothes and gift certificates for take out and mani/pedi's. She will be so excited.

       Books for the baby

Decorate your home like a scene out of mom-to-be's favorite children's book. You could also do a "fairy tale" theme. Make the invitation in the shape of a book or book mark. Instruct the attendees to bring their favorite children's book. Make the cake in the shape of a book or a story book character that everyone knows like "The Cat in the Hat." Guests could also bring a stuffed animal or puppet to accompany the book that they choose.
