Milestones |
Children are working at refining their abilities from birth on. The ability to track objects starts very young, when your infant can track you moving across a room. As your child gets older, it is very important for him or her to be able to track smaller moving objects as well. This activity is great at helping with tracking as well as being a great way to fine tune fine motor skills. |
Bubbles and More Bubbles |
It is relatively inexpensive to purchase a small bubble machine at your local store. You can always just blow bubbles as well. As you are blowing the bubbles, your child is learning to track their movements. Blow bubbles in all directions and encourage your toddler to follow a bubble until it pops. This encourages him or her to pay attention as well as to track movement. As you blow more and more bubbles, ask your toddler to do a variety of different things. Can he or she pop them with one finger? Can your child use their head? Maybe clap and pop them. Turn it into an activity about body parts. Pop the bubble with his belly. Use her feet. Pop them with her back. My toddler loves to try to jump on the bubbles, another great way to work on motor skills. Who knew that you could turn bubble time into learning time! |
