Twist and Turn

By Melanie Fleury, edHelperBaby

Milestones
Your 2-year-old continues to mature and develop every day. She is growing to look more like a little adult and will begin to walk and run more smoothly. Her hands are starting to work on fine motor skills that she will need to write, draw, and even swing a bat. You can help her along her path by having several activities to work with her hands.

Activities
You can do several activities to encourage your toddler's fine motor skills. You can introduce her to a variety of art supplies and paper. Help your toddler to draw circles, a very important step to pre-writing. Another great activity is to save your old plastic bottles with lids. Your toddler can practice screwing and unscrewing the tops. You can also paint the bottles and help your child color match bottles with tops. Pretty soon, your toddler's hands will be ready to write a letter to you!
